LICENSING IN GEOGRAPHY AND EXTENSION: PATHWAYS FOR THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE UNIVERSITY'S SOCIAL FUNCTION THROUGH THE SUPERVISED INTERNSHIP AT THE INSTITUTE MULTIDISCIPLINARY - UFRRJ
Supervised Internship, University Extension, Degree in Geography.
In view of the evolution of university extension, it is possible to perceive the changes that this university component presents. In its emergence, it had an assistentialist role, which had religious and philanthropic characteristics in a moment before its institutionalization. In its institutionalization, it already had a service provision role, which had the function of mitigating the problems of the English Industrial Revolution (OLIVEIRA and GOULART, 2015). Both characteristics, over time, underwent transformations, especially in Latin America, particularly in Brazil, witch in the face of moments of revolutions and popular uprisings presented dialogic characteristics, which have as a characteristic partnership between university and society, enabling horizontal activities. These characteristics are present in Brazilian universities and are reinforced by the National Extension Policy and Resolution number 07, of 2018. Given this, it is important to build tools and possibilities for the realization of a dialogical extension that can effect the University's social function. Bearing in mind that the supervised internship presents itself as an important formative moment where the teacher in training correlates theory and practice in the environment where the profession is developed (PIMENTA E LIMA, 2006; LIMA, 2012; ZABALZA, 2014) can be understood this moment as a possibility of approximation between the University and the community through the intern, which can develop a “bridge” function (LIMA, 2008), enabling dialogic activities through the internship, especially in the Geography Degree, as it is a science that allows the reading and understanding of reality. Therefore, this research has the general objective of identifying means and methods to effect the university extension in the Geography Degree course of the Multidisciplinary Institute of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (IM-UFRRJ) through the supervised internship. To reach this goal, it is necessary to understand the interns about university extension and the social function of the University. The methodological paths are: a) bibliographic reference about the investigated themes (university extension, supervised internship, university social function); b) observation of discussions in the Supervised Internship Practice classes I and II; c) analysis of field notebooks and internship reports; d) questionnaires and interviews with graduates. This will make it possible for trainees to understand these topics, as the lack of understanding can hinder the effective partnership between the School and the University through the internship. Thus, it is necessary to find ways to effect partnerships through the internship, and understanding the deficiencies of these understandings it is possible to propose effective ways to approach through university extension during the supervised internship. It is concluded, in a partial way, that when identifying the difficulties in developing the University-School approach, it is possible to outline effective strategies for, through the supervised internship in the Geography Degree, to reach a dialogue between community and academy with the purpose of, through partnerships, develop the social functions of the University
