SUMMARY:
BOSIO, Bruna da Silva Cavalcante. The use of the Fieldwork tool in the teaching of school geography - meanings to the concepts and contents of geography. = Dissertation (Master in Geography). Multidisciplinary Institute / Institute of Agronomy. Department of Geography, Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro. Nova Iguaçu, Rio de Janeiro, 2019.

Geography began with travelers / naturalists who crossed oceans in search of knowing the new, understanding how nature worked and doing science, that is, geography began with fieldwork, even though it was not named. In this sense, the fieldwork appears as a collaborative tool to be used to contribute to the formation of the student, especially here, for teaching and learning in geography, and can bring meaning to the concepts and contents that are learned in the classroom. Thus, this research aims to present the fieldwork as a tool for teaching-learning of school geography, putting into practice the actions of fieldwork with students and teachers of basic education, using at most the scale of the municipality of Duque de Caxias, RJ / e or local. Also, verify through the fieldwork, geography contents and concepts and their meanings, having as a principle to use the life and scientific trajectory of Alexander Von Humboldt as a source of inspiration for this study. We seek to conduct analyzes and dialogues with the adopted theoretical references, seeking to collaborate with the teaching of geography. This research effort leads to possibilities brought by fieldwork as a teaching-learning tool, and can offer the elementary school teacher elements for a critical geography with an emancipating sense. It is intended that geography ceases to be a distant subject from the reality of students, becoming closer, and with meanings and meanings to their interlocutors.
