SUMMARY:

The supervised curricular internship is the moment when the teacher in training is faced with the reality of the profession, analyzing and starting the construction of his teaching journey. Considering that the supervised internship is an important formative moment where the teacher in training correlates theory and practice in the environment where the profession is developed, this moment can be understood as a possibility to bring the university and the community closer together through the intern, who can develop a "bridge" function, enabling dialogical activities through the internship, especially in the Geography undergraduate course, since it is a science that enables the reading and understanding of reality. On the other hand, university extension, which nowadays is part of the founding tripod of the university together with teaching and research, has as its characteristic the realization of knowledge developed in the university reverted into direct actions and together with the community, thus fulfilling part of the social functions of the university. In view of this, this research has the general objective of identifying and analyzing the possibility of inserting university extension into the Undergraduate Geography course at the Multidisciplinary Institute of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (IM-UFRRJ) through the supervised internship. It is important to note that much of this research was conducted in the context of the pandemic of COVID 19 and was carried out in a remote modality. This is a qualitative research with phenomenology as its method. The methodological tools used were: a semi-structured questionnaire to understand the perspectives of undergraduate students about the supervised internship in remote model; two focus groups; analysis of internship reports and extension projects developed by the undergraduate students, in addition to class observation in the Practical Supervised Internship in Geography I and II courses. In the analysis, it was noticed that there are great expectations from the undergraduates about the supervised internship because they understand the importance of this formative moment for the teacher. These expectations have become, in part, negative for most undergraduates because they are developed remotely, far from the reality of the classroom. We also identified a lack of knowledge about the importance of extension for the educational process. However, it can be seen that, at the end of the supervised internships, where the practice of producing teaching materials together with school teachers was developed, the undergraduates were satisfied with the supervised internship and with the contributions made possible by this experience. Among the conclusions reached at the end of the research, it was found that the experiences arising from the supervised internship can contribute to university extension, and that there are great possibilities of carrying out actions both in schools and in the communities where they are located, contributing to the necessary university-society dialogue.
