The objective of the research is to relate the production of a superfluous population mass with the growing incarceration in contemporary society, using the city of Rio de Janeiro as a case study, where data obtained from security agencies show a high number of people who are incarcerated. and have no registered occupations. It is a criminalization that leads to the spatial confinement of the excluded.
