SUMMARY:

A look at a favela can have different points of view. For a long time, the outsider look prevailed in the observations and in the planning of public policies for these locations, that is, the vision of those who are outside the favela. This way of looking at these territories may fail to reveal the greatness of the relationships that arise within them all the time. For many times, this outsider look can be seen as prejudiced, according to the common sense view or the media sources. This research reveals the insider view of the young resident of the Nova Brasília favela, in Complexo do Alemão, in Rio de Janeiro/RJ. Careful not to romanticize the territory of the favelas, and understanding their space as a territory of absences, the young resident of Nova Brasília presents a new perspective on what it is like to live inside the favela. The relationship of these young people and the community leaders and representatives of the favela itself are starting points for young people to establish their role as paths of major transformations in their community, including in times of the SARS-COV 19 pandemic in the years 2020 and 2021.
