SUMMARY:

The São João massif represents an alkaline complex (São João Alkaline Complex - SJAC) composed, basically by
variations of syenites between melanocratic and leucocratic modes of exposition. Located in the district of Barra de
São João, district of the municipality of Casimiro de Abreu, in the southeastern portion of the state of Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil, the complex represents one of the contemporary Upper Cretaceous plutonic basic magmatism events present
in the South American plate. Such basic massif generally presents a divergent magnetic signature to the surrounding
lands, which are, for the most part, less basic wall-rocks. Obtaining the magnetic susceptibility data for the rocky
components, it is possible to infer, among other characteristics, the possible delimitation of the subsurface portion
through numerical modeling and specific mathematical inversions. Using magnetic susceptibility data, obtained by
cesium airborne on the terrain in question, made available and obtained by CPRM in its project 1117 processed with
the aid of the Oasis Montaj Student Version application, this work presents a three-dimensional modeling of the
outcrop portion of the SJAC together with magnetic susceptibility maps and digital terrain modeling under different
treatment processes given. This model contributes to elucidate some questions raised by authors about the genesis,
evolution and specific composition of the rock, since its non-traditional form in the subsurface presents important
magnetic variations considering minimally possibly residual compositional variations of surrounding rock or similar.
