Digital accessibility and the participation of deaf or hearing impaired students in online education at UFRRJ during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Digital humanities, deafness, hearing impairment and digital and communicational accessibility.
The year 2020 was a milestone in the world history of this century, due to Covid-19, a disease that affected a large part of the population around the world, claiming the lives of thousands of people. This fact, initially, paralyzed almost all the functioning of social and educational activities, except for those that were considered essential. Thus, isolation policies were implemented, in an attempt to curb the spread of the disease unknown by all until that time, many people remained isolated in their homes, using digital communication platforms to sequence their daily social activities. In light of this reality, Brazilian Education, pursuant to Ordinance No. 343, of March 17, 2020, which provided for the replacement of in-person classes by classes in digital media while the New Coronavirus pandemic lasted, had to adapt and resort to platforms to start their school activities. In the meantime, this research proposal aims to analyze how digital and communicational accessibility took place in the participation of deaf and hearing impaired students in online education offered by UFRRJ. And, in view of this, we verified whether it was possible to use the platforms to enhance the full participation of these students.
