SUMMARY:

PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN ADULT EDUCATION: DANCE IN DIALOGUE. Physical Education is formally established as a mandatory curricular component for all Basic Education, and should be integrated into the institutional pedagogical project. However, legislation stipulates that attendance in this subject is optional for students who meet specific criteria, a condition that encompasses a significant portion of students enrolled in Adult Education. The objective of this study is to systematize and analyze the development of pedagogical mediations, based on experiences with the theme of dance in Physical Education classes, built from participatory planning, with students from the evening Adult Education classes at the Leonor Corrêa Municipal School in the municipality of São Gonçalo. This is a qualitative research that will use action research as a central methodological approach, since the objective is not only to investigate the problem, but to build solutions in partnership with the subjects involved. Action research allows for the collective construction of knowledge, articulating reflection, action, and pedagogical change. The sample will consist of five adult education (EJA) classes from the Leonor Corrêa Municipal School in the municipality of São Gonçalo. Participants in the research will include: students regularly enrolled in the classes and the Physical Education teacher (researcher of the intervention). The systematization of pedagogical mediations based on a Freirean approach, participatory planning, and dance can become a positive proposition to lead adult education (EJA) students from the Leonor Corrêa Municipal School to become interested in and value the experience of specific bodily practices in class, even if these are optional for them. The research results may show that legal optionality can be superseded by meaningful content decided dialogically and by a practice designed to minimize the factors that impede or limit the participation of adult education (EJA) students.
