SUMMARY:

This research arises from experiences deeply felt and lived by the researcher, a transmasculine teacher who is also a subject of this research. The processes of exclusion, marginalization, and silencing faced by trans people, whose gender identity does not correspond to the normative, standardized, and socially expected norm, are reflected in a life expectancy of only 35 years, as for the 16th consecutive time Brazil is the country that kills the most trans people in the world. This disparity affects physical, mental, and social integrity, as the school is not prepared to deal with differences and the plurality of identities. This work seeks to explore issues related to trans people and Physical Education in schools, through dialogues with the literature and with the narratives of trans Physical Education teachers. As specific objectives, we intend to: map and analyze scientific productions on trans people in the educational context, with an emphasis on Physical Education; To understand the experiences of transgender teachers in Physical Education, from their experiences as students to their teaching practice, considering their relationships with the school community, their tactics for confronting transphobia and exclusion, and their pedagogical practices; to propose the creation of a pedagogical handbook to support teacher training processes regarding issues related to transgender people in the field of Physical Education. This research is necessary because there is a scarcity of studies addressing transgender people in the field of education. This study is composed of two main methodological approaches. It begins with a systematic review process, where we sought to carry out a quantitative and thematic mapping of studies regarding transgender people in the field of education. Following this, based on the findings, we conducted a qualitative analysis through a complete reading of studies from two specific thematic sets. The other methodological process involves conducting a round table discussion with transgender Physical Education teachers who work or have worked in public or private schools in Basic Education. The outcomes of these two processes constitute not only the data that will be analyzed in this dissertation, but also the starting point for the construction of the pedagogical guide. It is expected that this work will contribute to broadening discussions beyond the gender issues already raised by Physical Education, initially focused on cisgender problems between "boys and girls," as well as pointing to new possibilities for teaching practices in this field.
