SUMMARY:

Youth and Adult Education (EJA) is an educational achievement formalized in the 1988 Federal Constitution and the National Education Guidelines and Framework Law No. 9394/96, aimed at individuals who were unable to complete their studies in the formal education system during the expected school age. However, what we observe in Youth and Adult Education is that dropout and absenteeism rates are alarming. Since Physical Education is also a mandatory curricular component in this educational modality, it is crucial for teachers to have a clear understanding of the occurrence of this social issue. Beyond merely complying with the legal mandate to encourage student retention, it is necessary to consider, discuss, and take into account their social realities and the environments in which they live. This approach ensures that Physical Education classes are meaningful and relevant to these learners. This study aims to present Physical Education teachers with pedagogical possibilities for their classes in Youth and Adult Education, through an intervention that seeks to bridge the gap between lessons and students' realities, fostering student protagonism in their educational process and reducing school dropout rates. The present research is characterized as action research, where, based on theoretical foundations and educational resources, interventions will be carried out to address qualitative aspects reported by the study’s target individuals. A semi-structured interview will be used as a data collection instrument, and Content Analysis techniques will be employed to analyze the collected data. The expectation is that the data will reveal reports of class organization based on traditional, unmotivating methodologies with little active student participation. As a result of the action research, we aim to introduce teachers to innovative methodologies for Physical Education classes, thereby stimulating students' active participation and bringing them into the forefront of their educational journey.
