SUMMARY:

Dance is highlighted in the National Common Curricular Base as one of the Thematic Units of Physical Education to be experienced in Elementary School. However, studies reveal that this is a content that is considerably neglected in the organization of pedagogical planning, especially due to the culture of sport, still very present in school Physical Education, and the low affinity relationship that many teachers have with dance. These statements lead us to reflect on how much the content covered in Physical Education classes is linked to the socio-corporeal experiences of teachers and how much teacher knowledge influences the selection of content. This study is qualitative and quantitative in nature, descriptive in nature. The research is organized in two stages, as follows: Stage 1 - Application of a questionnaire to Physical Education teachers working in elementary school. The questionnaire is organized into four blocks of questions, 1- Characterization of the subject; 2- Initial/continued training; 3- Teaching knowledge; 4- Knowledge about dance. This instrument aims to obtain concrete data on the performance of teachers in the current context of the municipal networks of Rio de Janeiro/RJ and Magé/RJ, considering the relationship with dance and teaching knowledge; Stage 2 - Didactic-pedagogical intervention project with dance in Physical Education classes, which, as a method, uses action research and is based on the Didactic Situations described in the Cultural Physical Education approach. The interventions will be carried out with a 5th year elementary school class, at the Catumbi Municipal School - Rio de Janeiro. The planned didactic situations are: Mapping; Experience: Reading body practice; Reframing; Deepening; Enlargement; Record; Assessment. As a result of this research, we hope to understand the relationship between teaching knowledge and dance in Physical Education classes, as well as contributing to the development of dance teaching methodologies, taking into account the specificities of school spaces and contexts.
