Popular Culture in Physical Education Classes: A teaching-learning proposal for the early years
Popular Culture; Physical Education in Schools; Games and Play.
This project investigates the possibilities of incorporating Brazilian popular culture into Physical Education classes in the early years of elementary school, focusing on the thematization of games and play as cultural manifestations. Based on references from popular culture and body culture, the study recognizes play as a social practice that produces meaning and understands students as active cultural subjects. Its objective is to analyze and experience didactic possibilities for incorporating popular culture into classes, as well as to investigate to what extent the National Common Curricular Base and the Rio de Janeiro Curriculum favor this thematization in the context of a municipal public school in Rio de Janeiro. The research is qualitative in nature, articulating documentary research and existential action research (Barbier, 2002), developed with a 4th-grade class in a CIEP (Integrated Center for Public Education) of the municipal network. Data analysis follows a descriptive-interpretative approach, based on Content Analysis, using field diary entries, observations, and children's narratives. As an educational product, a teaching unit will be systematized with pedagogical guidelines built from the experiences carried out.
