PVDF matrix composites with conductive fillers for electromagnetic shielding
Composites, conductive fillers, electromagnetic shielding
Conductive composites consist of an insulating polymer matrix mixed with conductive additive particles (such as carbon black, carbon nanotubes, or metal particles), which constitute the dispersed phase (Arenhart, 2012). These materials conduct electricity differently than traditional composites, which have low or no electrical conductivity (Chawla, 2012). Engineering polymers have been used as matrices in polymer composites along with conductive fillers. Therefore, this research project aims to develop electrically conductive polymer systems based on Poly(Vinylidene Fluoride) with carbon black and graphene to evaluate their thermal, structural, morphological, rheological, electrical, and electromagnetic properties for use in electromagnetic shielding.
