The formation process of the Marcha das Margaridas and the Margaridas of the Maranhão state
Marcha das Margaridas; political formation; Maranhão; rural women's movements.
This dissertation aims to verify whether the political formation present in the Marcha das Margaridas, a strategic action promoted by rural workers women from the countryside, waters and forests under the coordination of the National Confederation of Agricultural Workers (CONTAG), helps rural women to claim their identities and their rights. Presenting as a case study the Maranhão delegation for the 7th edition of Marcha das Margaridas, we seek to understand how the political formation mobilized by Marcha das Margaridas (MM) affects the formation of Margaridas as a collective subject with rights. The category between-marches is proposed to account the time frame present between one edition of the March and another. To this end, theoretical references are mobilized on the emergence and formation of rural workers' organizations and movements at national and state levels, with a focus on Maranhão; about social movements; and on the Marcha das Margaridas. In this process, an investigation was started on the formation of identities to understand to what extent this formation results from processes of struggle and mobilization, investigating the complementarity between the processes of political formation and the formation of identities.
