Agro for whom? The disputes of narratives and the hegemonic discourse of agribusiness in Mato Grosso.

Agribusiness is a consolidated political practice in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, being the result of a hegemonic construction as a project of nation and "political word". Based on the Discourse Analysis of Laclau and Mouffe, we understand the hegemony of agribusiness as a political construction characterized by antagonism, recognizing that there are also divergent narratives that form the hegemonic discourse of agribusiness in MT. With this, the proposal of this thesis will be to solve two problems before the question: Agro for whom? The first on the construction of agribusiness hegemony in MT, and the second on the political disputes of narratives in the field of agribusiness. We will seek to identify the discursive elements that build the hegemony of agribusiness in MT, identifying the concepts and notions that articulate the agribusiness category, historically constituted in opposition to the counter-hegemonic movements. At the same time we will seek to display and reflect the narratives in dispute of agribusiness in the MT of the years 2017 to 2024, which represent the different interests and visions of agribusiness and that can unite as a class, but diverge when they delimit different projects, such as the "institutional", "business" model, and "agrobolsonarism". It will also be investigated the discursive strategies that make agro an object of popular, cultural and political consumption in MT, and that are expressed in social media, newspapers, mass media and schools. We will identify the organic intellectuals of agribusiness in MT, their discursive practices and the understanding of the shift of the focus of the hegemonic discourse of agribusiness from "agro" being 'tech', being 'pop' and 'everything', to "agro" being "people".
