RESUMO:

The conflicts involving the geraizeiras communities began in the 1970s, when the north region of the state of Minas Geraiswas included in SUDENE's area of activity. In this period large enterprises are stimulated - through fiscal incentives granted by the State - to occupy the region and with this great ventures in the areas of irrigated monocultures, mechanization of the extensive cattle raising and the monoculture of eucalyptus are spread by the northwestern region. Along the Upper Rio Pardo region, large extensions of eucalyptus monocultures became territorial, overlapping many parcels of the traditional territories that are there and provoking a profound change in the form of occupation of the spaces, in the management with the ecosystem and even in the form how the population occupies the spaces with their dwellings. In this context, of complex territorial conflict lived by the geraizeiras communities, the present work has as object study the territorial conflict and the consequent process of reterritorialization of the geraizeiras communities, using a temporal cut of the last 10 years until the present moment. The purpose of the study is to deepen the understanding of the current arrangement that forms the conflict by focusing the process of territorial recovery, analyzing the power structures that operate in the region, the forms of domination of the population and nature and the forms of appropriation of the natural resources by the private agents in a scenario of coloniality, as well as the process of appropriation and reterritorialization carried out by the traditional geraizeiras communities.
