RESUMO:

This essay is a part of an ongoing doctorade research and presents its researched object, guiding questions, envolved themes and its interrelations. Recognizing the acces to rural social security and assistance benefits, like Bolsa Família and Benefício de Prestação Continuada, here named monetized rights, by rural populations, it seeks to understand its repercurssions on the food practices of the quilombolas from the Vila Nova dos Poções – MG. Since the middle of the last century diverse society transformations occured, which carried out substancial changes in rural áreas, such as a significant rural exodus as a result, among other factors, the arrival of major projects on the country side and agricultural modernizations. Futhermore the growing industrialization process affected food processing associated with the valorization of the urban cultures and involved modifications on food practices broadly. Nonetheless, continuance on dietary basis are observed over the time, such as the constancy of cultivation and consumption of the so called Gorutuba bean in the Quilombo Bem Viver de Vila Nova das Poções. We search to comprehend, in long-term, the permanence of nutritions constituents on the dietray basis from this quilombola group, which were already indentified during previously field work by the production and consumption of this bean and the manioc. The perspectives of severe alimentary restrictions and the profound changes on eating patterns in Vila Nova dos Poções are explained mainly by its secular history of land conflicts and struggles. Therefore this thesis aims to understand the current dietrary basis focusing on the persistence of food practices constructed in the long run by observing the food production and consumption by the quilombolas from Bem Viver de Vila Nova dos Poções establishing relation with the contribution of monetized social rights.
