SUMMARY:

This research aims to perform a descriptive evaluation of the productive agglomeration of saffron in the municipality of Mara Rosa (GO) seeking to understand, as a central issue, which factors were determining for this municipality to become the largest pole of production of saffron land in the State of Goiás. And as a secondary and not less important issue, from the perspective of local development and socioeconomic inclusion of family farmers we intend to verify whether the actions developed from a Local Productive Arrangement were able to provide improvement in the living conditions of people, as well as contribute to the process of local development. We will work with the conception that the productive agglomerations and the action of the economic, political and social agents involved in this process are focused on a specific economic activity and, in addition, are able to strengthen the collective relations between the actors in this particular place. We will start from the hypotheses that: 1) the productive agglomeration installed in the northern region of Goiás has great relevance in the state supply of saffron and, 2) by promoting improvements in the economic aspect of family farmers in the municipality, with transformations for farmers, the social aspects will also receive influences and possible changes. Starting from the historical trajectory of this saffron productive agglomerate, in Mara Rosa (GO), we will finally seek to understand how the municipality of Mara Rosa has been organizing itself over the years and becoming known as the "capital of saffron". In relation to the methodological procedures, it is proposed for this study a qualitative research of exploratory nature, using deep literature review and secondary data collection, through research institutions, and primary data collection with conducting semi-structured interviews. The case study will also be adopted, so that real situations of the productive cluster of Mara Rosa (GO) can be analyzed.
