In recent decades, Colombia has experienced important changes in agriculture, related to the concentration of land, the expansion of the agricultural frontier, the increased production of crops characteristic of business agriculture, as well as the interest in and acquisition of land by national and foreign actors. At the public policy level, recent governments have made efforts to permit, through legislation, the acquisition or use of public lands by companies. Noteworthy among these efforts is the enactment of the Zidres Law in 2016. These transformations are embedded in international dynamics, which have led to the adoption of the agribusiness model in different countries. This thesis analyzes, within the context of neoliberalism, the expansion of agribusiness in Colombia, through the study of transformations at the productive, territorial and public policy levels. The development of this research relied on the theoretical discussion of hegemony, elements of discourse analysis, and conceptual developments on agribusiness. The historical overview of the agrarian question in Colombia, as well as the study of the implementation of neoliberalism and the changes brought about in agriculture, which have deepened in recent years, suggest a dispute over hegemony in agribusiness. This has intensified, mainly as a result of the peace agreement signed between the government of Juan Manuel Santos and the FARC-EP guerrillas, which included the agenda of the Comprehensive Rural Reform, and gave prominence to the peasant economy and the democratization of land.
