SUMMARY:

Even with the great gains in agricultural production and productivity, there is a great concern about how to feed a 9 billion population in 2050. Far from solving the hunger problem, as once proclaimed by the Green Revolution, the world is again witnessing a sudden increase on undernourishment. In addition to the distributive issues, the cumulative effects of climate change generate a complex and uncertain scenario. Formulating transitions to sustainable agricultural systems is currently a scientific, political and social challenge. This research seeks to identify and understand the principles of truth that are mobilized as central aspects (to the detriment of others) to compose the epistemic basis of scientific production in the interface between the fields of agriculture and environmental conservation. Through the cartography of controversies, the different positions between researchers on the reformulation and implementation of the Native Vegetation Protection Law (n. 12.651/2012) are mapped. Based on the co-production approach, the analytical lens explores the relationship between technoscientific knowledge and political and socio-cultural demands for environmental compliance. When exploring this interface between science and politics, the research captures different sustainability views and their translation into territorial management proposals that aims to influence decision making. To fulfill these objectives, the research carried out a systematic review of Embrapa's technoscientific production related to NCF. It also intends to survey on electronic sites the perceptions of actors who actively participate in this debate, as well as to contextualize this debate in the current scenario of dismantle, paralysis and reorientation of environmental policies in Brazil.
