RESUMO:

The present research proposal aims to analyze, from a historical perspective, a differentiated set of ecological transition processes in territorial agri-food systems, taking as a reference the Serrana Region of the state of Rio de Janeiro. Particular attention is paid to the arrangements and actors that potentiate or weaken the incorporation of ecological principles into agri-food dynamics in this portion of Rio de Janeiro's agrarian space, in dynamics marked by processes of articulation, conflicts and / or contradictions, unfolding at different scales. This work is part of a wider framework of academic discussions that seeks to reflect, from a meso level of analysis, on the effects and meanings of ecological transition processes in the context of the agri-food system. The case study here developed aims to: i) analyze how different links and dimensions of the agri-food system in the Serrana Fluminense Region have been worked and articulated in the last decades, considering their connections with multi-scale agri-food dynamics; ii) to examine the processes of ecological transition that emerged in this region from the 1970s, considering socio-productive arrangements, knowledge-building processes, and established relations between production and consumption; iii) analyze the interactions, contradictions and networks of interdependencies established between the different initiatives of production, supply and consumption of ecologically based foods promoted in the region by different socio-technical networks; iv) identify arrangements and actors, connected to different links and dimensions of the agri-food system, which potentiate, fragilize and / or bring contradictions to ecological transition processes in the analyzed territorial scale; (v) to reflect on the transformative potential of the different experiences and ecological transition initiatives analyzed, especially in relation to their ability to promote, symbolically and materially, forms of production and consumption tha are ecologically sustainable and socially just food.
