SUMMARY:

The present research proposal intends to analyze in which ways the process of politicization of food and eating is affecting contemporary domestic cooking. Faced with the discourses promoted by food activists with the intention of politicizing food practices and, specifically, cooking, I try to understand how the process of politicization promotes transformations around this practice. For that, the literature on political consumption, food activism and Theory of Practices will be mobilized. When considering cooking as a social practice, I intend to (a) investigate how the elements that constitute this practice and the relations between them have been affected by the processes of politicization, (b) analyze the conventions of normality in dispute around the “cooking politicized” and, finally, (c) how the politicization of cooking interferes in the arrangements of food practices and in their temporalities.
