Use of chicken eggshell membrane (Gallus gallus domesticus) as a biomaterial in the treatment of corneal ulcers

The inner membrane of the eggshell is a thin film that lines the inner surface from the bark and has bioactive

 properties such as collagen, glucosamine, acid hyaluronic and chondroitin. In chicken eggs, this membrane

 performs some functions, such as protecting the contents of the egg against the entry of microorganisms and

 regulating the exchange of gases. However, by having such bioactive properties, the internal membrane potential

 time for use in medicine, as a way of accelerating the healing of certain injuries. The objective of the presen

t study will be to characterize microbiologicallythe internal membraneshelledchicken eggshell 

(Gallusgallus domesticus) fresh and preserved in 98% glycerin. 12 eggs of domestic chicken in which the

 membrane was extracted in a sterile manner in a fume hood laminar flow, separating it into fragments

 of group 1 (control), group 2 (acid peracetic acid 0.1%) and group 3 (peracetic acid 0.2%).

 The fourth part of each fragment was stored in sterile glycerin for 30 days for bacteriological and mycological.

The results show that 98% glycerin was effective for conservation preventing bacterial growth, but its 

effectiveness was limited to preventing mycological growth. It is concluded that more studies are needed to 

evaluate the Glycerin is 98% effective in preserving the inner membrane of the shell.
