Use of Vessel Sealing Device in Laparoscopic Ovariohysterectomy in Bitches
Facilitation, hemostasis, laparoscopy.
Recent advances in veterinary surgery require knowledge of new technologies. Equipment known as “facilitators” increases speed and safety for patients and staff. The correct use of these instruments can bring important advances in the surgical routine. Ligasure, a type of vascular sealer, promotes hemostasis through the denaturation and fusion of blood vessel collagen, generating up to 7 mm in diameter of vascular occlusion. This device can be used in a large number of procedures, including endoscopic surgery. The vascular sealer replaces ligatures with sutures and hemostatic clips. The objective of this project is to evaluate the effectiveness of Ligasure in sealing the uterine vessels and uterus during laparoscopic ovariohysterectomy in bitches. The parameters to be evaluated will be bleeding from uterine vessels, exposure and bleeding of the uterine mucosa and possible signs of bleeding during 15 days after surgery.
