RESUMO:

The eyes of our research turns to antiquity. Thus, we aim to understand socio-political aspects of the daily life of a given social group known in the literature specialized by Jewish Aristocracy (between 175 and 164 B.C.). This objective is located within what was known in historiography as the "Hellenistic Period", which begins with Alexander the Great in the second half of the 20th century. IV B.C. and goes until the first centuryof that age. At that time, there were interactions between Hellenism and the so-called "oriental" cultural elements (the aristocracy mentioned above is undoubtedly included here). Our study will have as sources the books of 1st and 2nd Maccabees, but only these excerpts: 1Mc 1, 10-15 and 2Mc 4, 7-20. In addition, we have a theoretical discussion around Power and Politics, to better understand our object of study.
