RESUMO:

According to the current circumstances of the brazilian's political scenario, it's necessary to focus on the partidary institutions that make up our governmental framework. Therefore, this research is dedicated to the study of the Movimento Democrático Brasileiro (MDB), throughout the bipartisanship's period, in the civil-military dictatorship. Looking for to research the actions of this political party in the congress from its exponential electoral growth in 1974, it's important to develop a study about its origin, including its historical-political formation's context, its structure, composition and program. We also intend to analyse the political and social-economic conjucture of the early 1970's that enabled the electoral “victory” over the government's political party, the Aliança Renovadora Nacional (Arena). Therefore, to understand the emebista performance during the Geisel's government (1974-1978), as well as the relationship with the government after the growth of the oppositionists' repesentativity in the parliament at the time when the the “distention” was discussed.
