NON-AUTHORIZED BIOGRAPHIES: Between censorship and freedom of speech
censurship, biography, freedom of speech
This paper aims to discuss the relationship between biography and censorship based on the controversy that
arose between biographers and biographers in 2007 in Brazil about unauthorized biographies. We use as sources
the Federal Constitution of the country, promulgated in 1988, which defends freedom of expression, the Civil
Code of 2002, which safeguards the right to privacy and interviews. The central objective is to analyze this
debate by focusing on the arguments of actors, processes and approach in the media.
