RESUMO:

 

This work is an investigation of the experiences of children of slave girls in the parish of São Gonçalo dos Campos, Bahia, between 1835 and 1888, a period marked by the collapse of the Brazilian slave system. A close look at sources such as inventories, proxies, baptismal records, purchase and sale deeds and other documents does not miss the use of the labor of enslaved children among the region's tobacco producers. The existence of this documentary body made it possible to analyze the historical, social, economic, demographic, and cultural context that influenced the experiences, social network constructions and family relations in which enslaved children were inserted; to investigate and understand the characteristics of society regarding endogenous reproduction and the socioral profile of the slave child, the customs and alliances in which enslaved children were involved; to analyze slave labor relations around infantile experiences; investigate domestic trafficking and the sale of enslaved children; and finally, to question the context after the Free Womb Law, 1871, making a comparative analysis between the child considered slave and the naive child.
