The present work has as main objective to understand the process of formation and creation of the musical genre Sambajazz, during the decades of 1950 and 1960. Addressing the main relations between Sambajazz and other genres. Their differences and similarities.

Understanding innovations about modern Samba, and what impacts are generated in Brazilian popular music. Thus, a search for the understanding of a period of internationalization of Brazilian popular music, and later the rise of the

protest song to the detriment of instrumental music.
