SUMMARY:

In this dissertation, our aim is to analyze how the Normans were used as an instrument of God's punishment, to verify the legitimacy of the Church of Saint-Germain-des-Près. Therefore, we will analyze the speeches preserved by the clerics of the period, seeking to identify their matrix guideline which produces the discourse, in addition to understanding a relationship between incursions and social dynamics in the Frankish kingdom, after the death of Luís, the Pio. Moreover, we will analyze how the Norman concept has begun to attribute an ethnic meaning and to represent, in a homogeneous way, the whole set of advanced peoples which had come from Scandinavia during the migration period and its connection with French historiography, which identified and represented the Normans, for centuries, from the referential created by the Carolingian clerics.
