The Tico-Tico’s Adventures: the national and the comics in the First Republic (1905-1910)

This survey aims to go through the comics printed and published on the illustrated magazine "O Tico-Tico" between 1905 and 1910, while taking into account the discussion about the national situation occurred during the last years of the Empire to the beginning of the New Republic. Furthermore, we'll expiate firstly about the main notions and the alignment of intelectuals like Manoel Bonfim, Silvio Romero, Nina Rodrigues and Euclides da Cunha whilst the process of building the State and national identity. Lastly, we'll discuss the development of the illustrated magazine's realm, the position occupied by the children during the First Republic and Tico-Tico's goal in amuse and guide the next brazilian citizens.
