SUMMARY:
This research intends to investigate how the disciplines of Introduction to Historical Studies and Theory of History are delimited in Rio de Janeiro universities. We believe that knowing how professors think about theoretical teaching is essential to comprehend the different conceptions of knowledge that constitute the undergraduate courses in History. To this end, the dissertation is divided into three parts: the first intended to historicize the discussions on the implementation of the Introduction to Historical Studies discipline in the 1960s, mainly through the Annals of the 1º Encontro Brasileiro Sobre Introdução ao Estudo da História; the second part consisted of surveying magazines and manuals dedicated to Introduction and Theory of History; and, finally, the syllabus and mandatory bibliographical references established in the current descriptions and programs of Theory of History at the universities of Rio de Janeiro were investigated. With this, we intend to highlight the consensus and disputes present in the construction of historical knowledge.
