SUMMARY:

This research investigate trajectories of black migrants from Vale do Paraíba to the city of Rio de Janeiro between 1920 and 1940. The aim paths traced by these black migrants who decided going to the capital, understanding its actions through strategies, values, occupied spaces and their roles within the city. As well as understanding the possible contexts that they could be inserted in a society in constant process of racialization. With this, we seek to reconstruct the paths of those who were marked by marginalization in historiography, giving space to their choices and how these subsequent actions had an impact on the city of Rio de Janeiro.
