SUMMARY:

This work deals with the urbanization process of the parish of Jacarepaguá from the implementation of the tram system in the region. Based on the theoretical assumptions of urban history and relating local changes to changes that occurred in Rio in the middle of the 19th century, this study intends to contribute with yet another fragment in the history of the suburb of Rio.
