SUMMARY:

One of the biggest names in Brazilian photography of the eight hundred, Alberto Henschel, left his legacy as a pioneer as a photographer-entrepreneur and photographer of the imperial house. With the largest collection of black photographs in Brazilian territory recorded, it is significant to observe their work representing the feminine ideal.  Since most of these photographs of black women were exported to collectors, based on the hypothesis that these women were not, for the most part, represented in an animalized way in their business cards, it is intended to analyze from their perspective on the female representation, what was the ideal place reserved for black women in her photographs.
