SUMMARY:

Historically, the body has been conceptualized from different perspectives and related to different aspects, ranging from the imaginary to the physical. Regarding the relevance of the Theory of Social Representations and Body Image in the deeper understanding of the body in its sociocultural aspect, it is necessary to focus on the most varied audiences, especially adolescents. Since, in adolescence, worrying behaviors are observed in relation to the body, psychological health and negative and positive affects understood through sociocultural influence, such as the media, parents and peers. This dissertation is justified by establishing the relevance of the interfaces between the Social Representations of the Body and Body Image from the perspective of high school students, an existing gap in the studies that cover this theme, which makes it fundamental to understand the individual and collective development of these students. And this knowledge can be of wide relevance to Physical Education teachers since physical activity provides the individual with experiences that help in the construction of their Body Image, which implies making the individual aware of their feelings and attitudes in the social environment. that is inserted. Objective: To understand the interfaces between Social Representations of the Body and attitudes related to the Body Image reported by high school students from the public school system in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Method: This is a qualitative, cross-sectional and descriptive research. For data collection, the focus group technique will be used. Four focus groups will be formed, each focus group with 10 high school students from the public school system in the state of Rio de Janeiro, with a total of 40 students aged between 17 and 19 years old. A moderator's guide will be used, with the dynamics script and questions that will be asked. This guide will contain questions from both theories, both the Theory of Social Representations and the Theory of Body Image to be elaborated and discussed. Expected results: With this research, it is expected to collaborate for the development of the theme about the Social Representations of the Body, in addition to expanding the knowledge of the same for future actions in the field of School Physical Education.
