SUMMARY:

The article conceptualizes the Youth period from the perspective of black youth, who live in the neighborhood of Bangu, RJ, in the face of youth violence that daily crosses this town. We must reflect on discrimination, lack of access to opportunities, whether in the school or professional field, when presenting the reality of black youth in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Bangu. It refers to the non-recognition of the citizenship rights of young blacks, engendering and promoting social subordination. The proposal is to go beyond the realm of numerical data on the mortality of young black Bangu and provide a new hearing of the experiences and daily life of this age group. The young black man from Bangu becomes the protagonist of the neighborhood's identity construction. The study becomes significant, because the locality in question presents in the past a history related to the construction of black identity with the Bangu Atlético Clube soccer team and the insertion of the black proletariat in the Bangu Factory. The methodology has narratives as an instrument that will also emphasize the period of childhood, trying to identify the perception of institutional racism (inside the school) and the participant observation, in the field of daily school life.
