SUMMARY:

The supervised curricular internship (ECS), a fundamental curricular activity in teacher training, enables theory-practice unity and presents itself as a training moment with the potential to provide fundamental experiences to teachers in training. In this context, the Guidelines for Training Basic Education Teachers define the basic education school as a space for teacher training. In view of this, it is necessary to re-signify the role and importance of the supervising teacher (PS) in relation to the ECS, in order to meet the training needs of future teachers. This research aimed to analyze the training of the internship supervisor teacher in physical education to work with undergraduate students, in the context of an academic-level course, describing their perceptions regarding the role of the internship in the training of PE teachers and their role in internship supervisor status. This research was developed using a qualitative approach, descriptive in nature, and is a multiple case study. The research instruments and procedures used were: interviews, questionnaires, descriptive memorial, observation, field diary and documentary research. In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, the course followed the legal guidelines that guided emergency remote teaching. Before training, students on the course presented a vision of the role of internship supervision guided by the place where they saw the intern. Sometimes centralizing, with little opportunity for practice, when the intern was seen as a student, sometimes permissive, to the point of fearing for the loss of their autonomy from the supervisor, when they were seen as someone who knew more, because they were from the university. During the course, the perception of what it meant to be an internship supervisor matured, as they identified the importance of their knowledge and their performance in the training of future teachers. This allowed them to feel part of the training process of their interns. What we see after training are empowered teachers, aware of their role and value, and therefore also planning their actions and correcting consciously identified errors. We also saw a cry for more training like these for their peers who did not have the opportunity and for a closer relationship with the university and specifically with the professors supervising the internship subjects at the universities.
