SUMMARY:

The socio-environmental crisis facing modern society challenges us to find alternatives that promote the sustainability of human life on the planet. This crisis was built up through social choices, guided by Western thinking. However, it wasn't always modern thinking that guided us; Western philosophers, in their periods, gradually built up various forms of relationship between human beings and nature. With this in mind, we can be sure that modern thinking can be overcome. The Group for Studies and Research in Environmental Education, Diversity and Sustainability, created at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro in 2003, has since its inception focused its activities on training in Environmental Education. In 2013, it began developing a Training Proposal for Environmental Educators called ComVivência Pedagógica (Pedagogical Living), which proposes a radical experiential experience in communities with ways of life that are very different from the modern urban way of life, with the intention of transforming values and reframing concepts in order to promote a healthier and more harmonious relationship between human beings and other beings in the environment. The general aim of this work is to contribute to the development of this proposal by building a monitoring system. The methodology used is predominantly qualitative, with an emphasis on participant research. Its importance is related to the need to create and maintain the proposal's identity, as well as the need to evaluate its formative power.
