SUMMARY:

Teacher training is a long and complex process that involves different contexts, including those inherent to the life history of these teachers. In this sense, this investigation considers that the construction of professional identity permeates the teacher's personality. Its objective is to understand how the socialization process that takes place in different times and spaces contributes to the construction of the teaching identity of Physical Education teachers considered more and less engaged. To this end, it understands that the social universes of the family, school, sports institutions, political, religious and academic institutions, as well as the universe of work, contribute to the construction of the teacher's way of being, thinking and acting, within and outside the profession. This is qualitative, narrative-type research, which uses life stories and autobiographies. As a strategy for data collection, a closed questionnaire and interviews will be used, guided by a script of questions based on seven themes that generate discussion. Content analysis will be used to analyze the data. In the end, it is hoped that this research will contribute to the reflection on how and why Physical Education teachers choose and work in the profession, making it possible to understand the way in which they build their identity, as well as understanding the causes that lead teachers to become more or less engaged in the profession. It is noteworthy that understanding this process is significant for qualifying professional training interventions that consider the influence of social universes on the shaping of being a teacher.
