This research emphasizes the leading role of black children in anti-racist education, using self-portraits as a pedagogical tool to combat racism and build positive identities. Using a qualitative approach, the study analyzes artistic practices in schools, showing how self-portraits allow children to reflect on their image, racial identity, and self-esteem, strengthening their role as active subjects in the construction of knowledge. Based on Law 10.639/2003, the research advocates anti-racist practices that value ethnic-racial diversity and promote emancipatory curricula. Through the analysis of artistic productions and interactions between children in Early Childhood Education, the study reveals how their narratives and experiences are transformative tools, capable of deconstructing stereotypes and celebrating black culture. By expressing emotions, experiences, and belonging through art, black children affirm their identities and recognize themselves as subjects with full rights. The research concludes that self-portraits are political acts of resistance and empowerment, essential for promoting racial equality and strengthening identity.
