Continuing Teacher Education is one of the fundamental pillars for the implementation of antiracist education in Brazilian public schools. In the municipality of Nova Iguaçu/RJ, this demand takes on even more expressive contours in view of the ethnic-racial diversity present in the municipality's population and, therefore, in its student body and teaching staff.The investment in training processes that raise awareness, empower and equip the pedagogical practices based on the ethnic-racial relations, in addition to complying with the legal requirements established by Brazilian Laws No. 10.639/03 and 11.645/08, as well as the provisions of the Brazilian Federal Constitution, proves to be essential to overcoming historically rooted inequalities in school daily life. The local context, characterized by a predominantly black, mixed-race, Asian descent and indigenous people, imposes on the district system the ethical and political commitment to promote teacher professional development that aligns with the specificities of the reality experienced by the residents of Nova Iguaçu. Thus, the implementation of public teacher training policies becomes increasingly urgent that promotes not only the expansion of the educators' theoretical framework but also the development of daily pedagogical practices that acknowledge and respect the cultural diversity and students' identities. Against this backdrop, the general objective was established to investigate how antiracist education has been integrated into teachers' continuing education in the municipal school district of Nova Iguaçu. More specifically, this study aims to analyze how Continuing Education policies related to ethnic-racial relations have been implemented in the municipality; identify the existence and nature of continuing education regarding the application of Brazilian Laws 10.639/03 and 11.645/08. As theoretical and methodological references, we dialogue with authors such as Oliveira (2012), Gomes (2002), Cavalleiro (2003), Munanga (2015), in addition to the aforementioned legislation and teaching staff training policies in force. At the time of this qualification, the debate is ongoing regarding the implementation of the National Education Plan (Plano Nacional de Educação - PNE). It is an educational research, of a qualitative approach, whose methodology involves bibliographic review, study of official guidelines and national, state and municipal legislation related to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and ethnic-racial issues, as well as the conduct of semi-structured interviews with the Department of Education (Secretaria de Educação) team responsible for teaching staff training. These actions are guided by the construction of data, which will be grounded in research analysis, always related to the theories chosen as a basis. Up to now, it has been possible to confirm that, historically, teacher training has presented itself as a challenge for the most diverse educational systems, from the formulation of public policies and Initial/Continuing Education to the difficulties related to structural condition fragility from the States and Municipality, with regard to offering well-structured educational materials able to guarantee teachers an extensive training in their multiple dimensions.
