The Beginning Bachelor teacher in Higher Education: The Construction of Teaching Knowledge at the Start of a Career
Keywords: Beginning teacher. Higher education. Teacher Education.
This study investigates the teaching practice of bachelor professors beginning their higher education careers. The objective was to identify and analyze the difficulties, struggles, and learning experiences frequently experienced by those who did not have specific pedagogical training to work as teachers but have recently practiced this profession. The research focused on four themes: higher education, bachelor professors, beginning teaching, and teacher training. A systematic review of Google Scholar and SciELO databases was used as a theoretical and methodological resource, based on the works of leading scholars on the topic. The research adopts an investigation qualitative approach, conducted through semi-structured interviews. Listening to what the professors say about their teaching work at the beginning of their careers is crucial, as their testimonies reveal essential facets of this experience, opening possibilities for understanding what they perceive as concerns. Six professors working at the Institute of Applied Social Sciences of the Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro in the undergraduate programs of Accounting, Business Administration, and Economics, will participate in the study.
