RESUMO:

The present study has as its scope the humanistic dimension of the
English William Shakespeare and the Brazilian Paulo Freire, evidenced in his works,
respectively, The Tempest and Hamlet, and, Pedagogy of the Oppressed and Pedagogy
of Autonomy. Shakespeare and Freire are authors of relevance in their respective
areas of knowledge, literature and education, despite this, the study aims to investigate the
possibility of a dialogical interface of the humanistic philosophical thought of both.
It is believed that the dialogue between the weights of these authors can contribute to the
development of joint research between the field of literature and the science of
education. In this way, we try to develop a re-reading of Shakespeare in the light of
Freire and Freire in the light of Shakespeare. The study makes use, as theoretical foundation,
of Works: Martin Heidegger's Letter on Humanism, Existentialism is a
humanism of Jean-Paul Sartre, Humanism and democratic criticism of EdwardW. Said
Literature and Humanism of Carlos Nelson Coutinho, as far as humanistic philosophy is concerned;
Shakespeare Imagery by Caroline Spurgeon and Shakespeare: The Invention of
human relationship of Harold Bloom with Shakespearean literary criticism; Critical introduction
to the dialogical humanism of Paulo Freire de Carlos Bauer and Humanist pedagogy
by Paulo Freire de Nelino Azevedo de Mendonça, and Freirean criticism. In short,
for the appreciation of the web of relationships that emerge from the human being, his
nature, abilities, relationships with oneself, with otherness, with and in the world,
as well as sociocultural, economic, political, moral and ethical models. Such an endeavor
