SUMMARY:

This study aims to discuss how the theme “gender” within the training of physical education teachers of UFRRJ, can interfere in the classes of this discipline in high school in public schools in the municipality of Seropédica. Through an informal observation for two years that I was in the PIBID (Institutional Program of Initiation to Teaching) I noticed difficulties of the teachers from EF in dealing with situations that arose during their classes that involved this theme, such as the division by gender in practical classes. Hence the question: were they in touch with this theme in their formation at UFRRJ? And how do they deal with situations about gender and sexualities present in everyday school life?  Assuming that the theme is still considered a taboo in many environments, this study may elucidate and assist in a pedagogical praxis free of prejudice. The theoretical framework of this study is based on the concept of poststructuralism and on authors such as Foucault, Judith Butler, bell hooks and Guacira Lopes Louro.  Qualitative in nature, online interviews will be conducted with semi-structured scripts with the professors of EF graduates of UFRRJ. In the analysis of the data we will use the Content Analysis of Bardin (2016), which consists of analyzing the content of the speeches and organizing them into categories.
