SUMMARY:

This work develops from the observation and reflection on the montage as an aesthetic-political device that has as a principle to affirm the constructive and propositive character of the images and narratives produced from fragmentation and discontinuity. Studies on editing characterize it as a mode of knowledge that, due to the primacy of the image, renounces the practices of language instrumentalization and the exclusively explanatory and conclusive value of the positivist rational discourse. The research is presented in three parts. In the first, we seek to outline an exchange of practices and reflections based on aesthetic productions in the interwar periods - in Western culture - that used montage as a political clash against normative and naturalized mechanisms of power structure representations; mechanisms that, for the sake of their narratives persuasion, hide the montage process that substantiates it, erasing the reasons and purposes that interest their domination, to present themselves in an impersonal and illusionistic way. In the interwar period, the influx between aesthetic and political movements of the revolutionary tendency that came in the wake of the proletarian revolution, emphasizes the use of montage, not just the criticism of political manipulation between reality and the appearance of the capitalist technical-industrial system. Such influx also emphasizes, in the activity of 'assembling' the dialectical perspective that dimensions the positioning and proposition subject possibilities in front of the world as an act of creation, converging in the very idea of building reality as becoming. Theories and exchanges regarding the montage processes inserted in the devastation experience established by capitalism, starting from the First World War - going through productions and reflections in Dada, in the Russian avant-garde cinema, in surrealism, in the production of authors like Bertolt Brecht and Walter Benjamin, among others - even assembly processes today, enabled us to think of montage as a field of resistance strategies to determinations and unification of the time imposed by Neoliberalism. In the second part of the research, we intend to outline a montage pedagogy, dialoguing with educational approaches, and, in particular, with the educator Paulo Freire. Correlations are proposed from the perspective of the creative thought function, rather than reproductive, and in the strategies that stimulate participants responsibilities as 'builders' and/or 'assemblers' of meaning - both as recipients and producers - predisposing to these reconnect experience and reality, subjectivity and objectivity, reason and imagination for reading and proposing images and realities. The objective is to demonstrate that the act of 'assembling' is also a way to reconnect fragments of reality, making visible underlying or unconscious relationships that move meanings and senses of realities, contributing with actions to regain participation in the world construction, understood as not determined, as process and becoming. The third part refers to a methodological experience report carried out with young Seropédica city students through an audiovisual thought/imagination writing exercise from the assembly of disparate fragments selected in the socio-cultural and political reality sources of these participants.
