SUMMARY:

Although being initiated to be done as participatory research, this project ended up being adapted to the context that was rearranged in the pandemic period. This way, following the concession established in PROFLETRAS Resolution No. 02/2022, it is presented as a didactic proposition. The research reflects the teaching profession allied to the teaching-discency, which is intrinsic tothis professional activity, and it suggests an experience of literary reading in Elementary School based on the text “O Alienista” (1882), by Machado de Assis. The objective was to combine the wishes of formation by which students become socially proficient readers and writers for they had guaranteed access to the cultural heritage of humanity, while aiming to guarantee a bias of playfulness to the experience, a necessary condition for presenting the pattern works to this segment of school. As main theoretical support, the research counted on studies by Vygotsky (1991), Freire (1963; 1979; 1995; 1996; 1998), Cosson (2009; 2021), Lerner (2002), Dell'Isola (2007), Marcuschi (2008), Travaglia (2002; 2018), Silveira (2010), Teixeira (2010) and Rosa (2021).
