SUMMARY:

This research aims to teach the news genre concerning to  job vacancy, focusing on inference. As a result of the investigation, we propose the elaboration of a pedagogical notebook with activities that focus on this teaching, as a belief of helping in reader formation by offering models of possible strategies, the study of the text also falls for its reflective and social use . This research is justified by the fact that students have great difficulty in understanding what they read, as a result of several factors, both internal and external to the school environment. This difficulty stands out, above all, in a context of means of communication expansion  in which new texts appear and circulate, requiring different and new skills, both cognitive and metacognitive, for reading comprehension.

From these reflections, what can the teacher do in the face of these challenges? How to contribute to the formation of autonomous and critical readers and, therefore, capable of fully exercising their citizenship? Therefore, this research will be developed from a bibliographic survey in which it will seek to answer the following question: what are the reading teaching strategies that can develop the inferential ability from the news genre “Job Vacancies” in 9th grade classes of Elementary School? We suggest the use of reading strategies as a possible pedagogical mediation, since “a text requires much more than the simple linguistic knowledge shared by the interlocutors: the reader is led to mobilize a series of strategies(...) In this process, author and reader they should be seen as strategists, in the interaction through language” (KOCH and ELIAS, 2012, p. 7). As a general objective, it is proposed to develop activities using metacognitive strategies that can develop in 9th grade students the ability to infer from the cited genre. The possibility of helping students to read more properly, that is, to read fluently and criticality led us to the path of the specific objectives covered in this research, namely: (a) encourage strategies and reading procedures that are meaningful and contextualized with the students' reality; (b) motivate students to go beyond what is written, in order to recover their previous sociocultural and encyclopedic knowledge; (c) promote the respectful debate of all the agents involved in the project so that the democratic posture can be stimulated inside and outside the school. It is theoretically based on Kleiman (2002), Solé (1988), Marcuschi (2008) and Irandè (2003).
