SUMMARY:

This research presents a proposal for the teaching of reading and text production through a literacy project aiming to provide the student with an opportunity of full development as reader and text producer. The general objective is to develop a proposal of a literacy project through diversified activities of reading and text production based on the literary work by Umbelina do Nascimento Nunes Reis. The research will have contributions of textual linguistics and studies of literacies and multiliteracies as theoretical input. Based on the action research, the proposal will be developed in a 9^th grade class of Middle School that happens in morning hours, in the year of 2022, at Professor Aragão Gomes State School, in Mendes, southern Rio de Janeiro State. For this purpose, poems by Umbelina do Nascimento Nunes Reis, former resident of the city of Mendes, and which represents part of the city’s cultural heritage, were chosen. Through them, students will be able to read beyond the surface of the text, accessing previous knowledge and others acquired during the process, in an active posture in the construction of meanings of the text. Besides that, they will have the possibility of perfecting their writing by producing a biography of the author as a final assignment, in which strategic resources of text production will be used aiming for the sequential cohesion. It is important to highlight that this is also a way of achieving the appreciation of local culture, which is sometimes so much forgotten. This way it will be possible to link Portuguese classes to the social reality we live in, producing, therefore, people who are aware of their role as users of the language and citizens.
