RESUMO:

The teaching of reading and the development of textual understanding is an essential factor for social inclusion. In the case of public schools, the school environment may represents, for students, the only social opportunity for the acquisition of reading habits. However, the lack of attention displayed by the teacher in the processes of reading as a cognitive process that should be held by students in the Portuguese classes could lead to the loss of this opportunity. Observing that, this dissertation has the aim to investigate how students perceive their metacognitive experiences using the reading aloud method in their learning processes as readers, and , secondly, reflect about the relationship between this perception and the textual comprehension in fact. In this approach, the goal is that students could use the processes of reading aloud in the most authentic way, to ensure they have the knowledge about what they are reading to really comprehend it. The intention, therefore, is to investigate aloud reading to students as a strategy of self-regulation, used as a tool to lead towards comprehension and not just as a dramatization of the reading, in order to prove the point of view that the promotion of aloud reading in the Brazilian public schools life used as an inclusive pedagogical proposal of teaching reading contributes to the metalinguistic development of the students.
